My Summer Reading List

Summer is almost over.

I’m kidding! 🙂

Last year, while I was on vacation at the seaside, I decided that vacation in the traditional sense is over for me.

While I had a good time and had beautiful scenery, I felt restless. I felt I was wasting precious time.

You see, while my body was relaxing, my brain needed something to do. It was hungry for information.

So, I decided right then and there that the next vacation or time off would be totally different.

Since last summer every time off or weekend I made it my mission to use it for personal and professional development.

Whether it’s reading books, listening to podcasts, watching videos on YouTube, taking an American English Pronunciation Course, my free time is focused on improving myself and my skills.

It may sound overwhelming, but it’s not.

It’s not the traditional, “let’s study for 3 hours” thing. It’s about having fun while learning something new.

Of course, I still go out with friends, have dinner with family, and have fun, but I make sure to insert in my day personal and professional development.

It’s amazing what difference it does over time.

And because I LOVE reading, I want to share with you my reading list for this summer.

Whether you like reading hard-copy books, ebooks, or listening to them, just make it your mission to read a new book every week.

Not only read it, but also applying at least one thing you learned from it.

You will grow so fast; that you almost won’t recognize the person you were a year earlier.

My Summer Reading List

The Power of Habit

When I first heard about this book in a conversation between Laura Petrolino and Paula Kiger on Spin Sucks, I thought, “hm just another book saying the same things.”

Boy, was I wrong.

From the first moment I started reading it, it was a mind blow. Everything I knew about habits, my habits, was wrong.

All the excuses I sold myself for years, were just that, excuses.

The author explains how habits are formed, why do they exists, AND how you can change them.

So if you’ve always been struggling with exercising regularly, becoming more productive, or becoming more successful, this book is for you.

You will understand how habits work, and how to transform yourself, your career or business, and ultimately, your life.

If you do one investment in yourself this year, read this book.

You Are The Placebo

When I first heard about this book, I did not know what to expect. I knew what placebo was, but other than that I was clueless.

Because it was a highly recommended book I said I’d give it a try.

It was also the first book I bought on Audible. And so my journey in listening books has started.

Ever since I was little, I was fascinated how the brain works, why it works in a particular way, and more importantly, why we do things the way we do, why we think the way we think.

This book answered so many of my questions and opened my mind to endless possibilities.

In the book, the author, Dr. Joe Dispenza explains how the placebo effect works in your life, from health to whatever you tell yourself you can or can’t do.

Once you read this book you will understand that what is happening to you, whether you have the success you want, the health you want, etc. or not, it’s only up to you.

If you understand how your brain works, you have infinite possibilities.

I read a couple of Tony Robbins’ books. When his new book was published I ordered it on the spot. I did have to wait for almost two weeks to actually hold it in my hands, though.

We don’t talk enough about financial education and how to manage money throughout our lives.

We are not taught at home, in schools, and definitely not at work.

In this book, Tony Robbins explains step by step how to transform and accelerate your financial life. He doesn’t stop there. He explains the psychology of wealth and how to stop the self-sabotage.

Even if you think you know everything there is about money and finances, give this book a read. It will change the way you think about finances and your financial future.
